The family and friends of Alison Parry, who sadly lost her battle against Malignant Melanoma on March 4th 2009, kindly arranged a charity challenge football match to raise funds for research into the disease.
On Sunday May 31st at the Greater Manchester Police sports ground ladies teams from Manchester City and Manchester United clashed in a hotly contested derby match.
A closely fought game ended level at 2 - 2 after 90 minutes and a nail biting penalty shoot out was needed to decide the eventual winners, with Manchester City triumphing 4- 3 on penalties.
Alisons son Louis proudly presented a memorial trophy in Alison's name to winning team captain, Gail Redston.
Thanks to everyone involved in organising and supporting this event, around £950 was raised on the day. Hopefully it will become an annual event.
