Manchester Golf Club recently played host to the "Ernie Cooksey Memorial Trophy". The event was organised to honour Ernies memory and to fundraise for Rochdale supporters trust and Factor 50. Ernie played football for both Oldham Athletic and Rochdale, their supporters trust contacted Factor 50 last year wanting to participate in some joint fundraising.
Ernies family sent their best wishes for the day, which marked the 2nd anniversary of Ernie losing his battle with melanoma. It was played in near perfect conditions and the teams battled it out to a very close finish with the team led by Keith Hicks, Rochdales football in the community officer, narrowly triumphing to take the inaugural honours.
This was followed by a 3 course evening dinner with a sports memorabilia auction and the day raised in excess of £2,000 to be split between the two concerns.
This is to be an annual event and we are already taking enquries from people wishing to participate next year. If you want to register your interest in what is sure to be another fantastic day on a great course you can contact Andy Worthington on 07977 921085 or at andyworthington.factor50@googlemail.com
