Welcome to our website. The Factor 50 Fundraising Group was born in the Autumn of 2007. We aim to raise awareness of the dangers of over exposure to the sun, the use of sunbeds and also raise funds for research and clinical trials for Malignant Melanoma.
Gill Nuttall had a friend with Malignant Melanoma, (a form of skin cancer) and having seen the struggle he faced, she wanted to try and help create some awareness of the disease, and also raise some much needed funds. We are in close contact with the research team at the Christie and they provide us with updates in relation to the work they are carrying out into research surrounding Malignant Melanoma.
David Healy- Factor 50 Patron
David Healy MBE become the offical patron of Factor 50 in August 2009. David said: “Gillian got in touch with me and asked for my help. Being a professional football player, I spend long periods outside in the summer months; it’s easy to forget the dangers of being exposed to the sun. I fully support Factor 50 and their cause to raise awareness of the damage the sun does.” David Healy

You can't fail to have seen news reports as to the seriousness of skin cancer. Young people searching for information on the symptoms of skin cancer are increasing and this is alarming, although encouraging that the information is being sought out. For a number of months melanoma, skin cancer, the use of sun beds, binge tanning and skin protection has been in the news almost every day. Here at Factor 50 we welcome the reports and we hope that people who have previously been addicted to tanning, or failing to care for their skin in the sun, will take another look at the way they behave. To see someone suffer from this illness is truly awful.
There are various fundraising events going on throughout the coming months and each individual/group has their own page. Please log on to their pages, have a look at the great efforts that are being made and if you are sponsoring them, follow the links to the online donations.
We are often approached by friends and family of malignant melanoma patients asking if they can help. We appreciate all efforts, no matter how small. Visit the news section for more information.
Sale Sharks player, Oriol Ripol, recently contacted Gill Nuttall in order to offer his support for Factor 50. View Oriol Ripol's website here.
